CLASS OF 2020 GRADUATE SUCCESS

Even as we farewelled our graduating advisory at Tuesday’s Celebration Dinner they were sharing with us stories of their successful transitions into work, training and further education.

University Bound

LBPS was a pilot school for the International Big Picture Learning Credential with our students being some of the first in the world to use our new learner profile to apply to university. In addition to sharing their on-line portfolio students had to present their Senior Project to a panel of UTAS academics and admissions staff. All our students who applied received offers from UTAS and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive with all students impressing the panel with their knowledge skills and passion. Rochelle Finearty, Head, Applicant Services, Student Operations, University of Tasmania provided the following feedback:

"Jack was great at interview, confident and well prepared, the committee were incredibly inspired by his work, and motivation and the course coordinator saw him as being a potential leader in his cohort to inspire and drive people."

"Rahni was amazing, she is a brilliant and confident speaker and incredibly inspiring about her chosen career she was an absolute stand out and the academic members on the committee made comment that she was doing the sort of work they saw in their final year students."

Congratulations to Jack, Rahni, Jaymz, Iman, Beren and Charlyse.

TAFE and Traineeships

We have a number of students continuing their learning through TAFE next year with students enrolling in everything from Hair and Beauty to Laboratory Techniques. While others are pursuing traineeships in Forestry Management and IT. It is great to see our students have clear pathways and the confidence to continue to pursue their passions beyond LBPS.

Congratulations to Mikayla, Zak, Blake, Hayden and Monique.

World of work

Leah and Ronan have already interviewed for several positions and are awaiting the outcome. In this challenging economic climate it is impressive to see these young people are being considered for jobs in highly competitive fields. Congratulations and keep us posted.

Em and Oliver will be travelling and dipping into some short courses as they consider their options. Happy trails and best wishes.

Finally, congratulations to Billy and Finn from Nick’s advisory who are entering full-time employment. Billy was successful in securing an apprenticeship with Fairbrothers, while Finn made himself so indispensable during his LTI at the Automobile Museum that they have offered him full-time work and the possibility of a traineeship in IT or Business.
