2. PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Dear Families,
Term 4 has come around quickly, and we have started with great energy.
Leaving to Learn
Our Teaching staff have been reviewing the Big Picture Learning Design at LBPS and reflecting on our strengths and ways in which we can grow our school to ensure we are living all of the design, all of the time. From this work we identified leaving to learn or outlearning as an area of focus. Leaving to learn is a key part of the Big Picture design for learning. It helps make learning more relevant for our young people and connects them with new people and places where you can explore your interests.
During Term 4, learners who are not currently engaged in an LTI will be participating in excursions in and around the Launceston region on Tuesdays and Thursdays. School uniform will need to be worn on these days. Please let your child’s Advisor know if you would like further information.
2025 Enrolments
The second of our two Family Information Evenings took place earlier this week. It was great to hear our staff and students sharing our learning design with interested young people and their families. Next week we will hold another round for enrolment interviews, followed by a transition week across week 6 and week 7.
2024 Big Picture Olympics
Today our Student Leaders hosted the LBPS Olympics. Despite some poor weather throughout the day, our students have participated in great spirits. It has been fabulous to see students in their team colours, having a go and supporting their peers. Ending the day with our first Colour Run was a great way to end a day of fun.
Congratulations
Thanks to the on going work of our School Association, our Assistant Principal position has become a permanent position. Congratulations to Marianne Olsen being appointed to this position. Congratulations also to Jennifer Pollard for being appointed to the Instructional Specialist position at LBPS for the next three years.
There are many end of year events coming up in the near future – please keep your eye out for information regarding these events.
Thanks
Cindy
